Cookie notice
This site sets
no cookies of its own.
Which is why you have not been asked to dismiss a banner. We think consent pop-ups are mostly a way of wearing people down, so we built the site not to need one.

Statistics
How we count visits without tracking you
We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to see which pages are read and which links get clicked. We have configured it deliberately:
- No cookies. Nothing is written to your browser's storage, so nothing follows you between visits.
- No profiles. Events are not attached to a person record, so we cannot build up a picture of an individual visitor.
- No session recording. We do not replay what you did on the page, and we never see what you type.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking, and nothing shared with advertisers, because we do not advertise.
The practical effect: we can see that a page was read, but not by whom, and we could not identify you from it if we wanted to.
The exceptions
Two things we don't control
Being straight about this matters more than claiming a clean sheet.
The booking calendar
If you open the booking calendar on our contact page, that part of the page is served by Cal.eu and may set its own cookies to make the booking work. It only loads on that page, and only if you use it. You can avoid it entirely by emailing us instead.
Web fonts
The typefaces are currently served by Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google to fetch them. That request carries your IP address. No cookies are set, but it is a third-party request and you should know it happens.
If you'd rather not
Turning it off
Any browser setting or extension that blocks analytics will block ours, and the site will work exactly the same — nothing here depends on being measured. "Do Not Track" and similar signals are respected.
If you would like the statistics for your visit removed, email privacy@the-emberproject.co.uk. We should say honestly that this is difficult in practice, because there is no identifier in the data linking a visit to you — which is rather the point.
More detail on everything else we hold is in our privacy notice.
